Whether you have already chosen a lot to build on or are looking to build on one of ours, we can guide you through the process and make your vision a reality. We'll listen to your ideas and your concerns and help you make decisions regarding style, design, expenses, deadlines and more. Many important areas will be reviewed.

Architectural Planning
No matter where you are in the design process, we can assist you in creating and fine-tuning your new home plans. In crafting your new custom home we will use your plans or assist in the development of a custom plan using our quality draftsman.

Interior Design Planning
With your plans complete, we will assist you with your interior finish selections. We offer our clients flexibility and personal service. By combining our experience and ideas with your unique tastes and style, we will create a home that is truly - one of a kind.

Our low overhead costs build value into your home from the start and our relationships with reliable suppliers, vendors and sub-contractors in the Billings market will provide us with competitive pricing. We will provide you with a target budget number and work within those parameters.

With your precise set of plans, your well-detailed interior specifications, and your intended budget, we are set to build your new custom home and make the vision a reality! From excavation to finish work, your contractor will be on the jobsite to ensure that your new home is built on time, on budget and to the highest quality standard.

Processes and Procedures to Expect:

Your Construction Schedule
As part of your Building Construction Agreement, you will receive a calendared construction schedule. You will also be given a timeline for decisions and selections to be made. We will provide you with information regarding material suppliers and showrooms to help facilitate the process. This results in Cougar Construction completing the project on time and ready for your family to move in!

A Written Builder Limited Warranty
After the completion of the project, a full one year written warranty protects your home on all workmanship and materials unless otherwise covered by a manufacturer's limited warranty.

A Customer Walk-thru Before Closing
A scheduled walk-thru will occur with you and your Contractor, Sam Nelson before the final closing.

Your Service After the Sale
In the first weeks of living in your new home, if you find that there are any items that may have been missed on the walk-thru or that need additional service. A "Service Request" form will be used to address additional service needed during the Builder Limited Warranty.

Energy Efficient Homes

We are proud to offer new homes that are Energy Star Certified. By implementing energy efficient features in our homes, we are able to pass significant, long term, savings on to our clients while minimizing the effects on our environment.

Quick Facts:
ENERGY STAR® qualified homes use significantly less energy than standard homes on heating/cooling and water heating/delivery, saving between $200 and $400 a year. Energy-efficient homes have more consistent temperatures in and between each room and better quality of air overall, increasing home durability. Almost 3,500 homebuilder-EPA partnerships have resulted in the building of over 750,000 ENERGY STAR® certified homes. By 2010 there will be over 2 million of these homes. 16% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions are generated by energy use in homes. That's more than your car!

ENERGY STAR® Homes Include:

  • Effective Insulation - Insulation in floors, walls and attics that has been properly installed and inspected will create a good environment for consistent temperatures, decreasing energy use and increasing comfort.

  • High-Performance Windows - High tech windows which include features such as protective coatings and the best crafted frames help heat in during winter and out during summer.

  • Tight Construction and Ducts - Drafts, moisture, dust, pollen and noise can be reduced by properly sealing holes and cracks in the home's "envelope" and ducts system, also helping the climate of the home overall.

  • Efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment - Good heating/cooling systems will use less energy to quietly create the best possible environment and climate for a home, especially when connected to a tightly constructed home.

  • Efficient Products - ENERGY STAR® homes can utilize ENERGY STAR® products such as lighting fixtures, compact fluorescent bulbs, ventilation fans and major appliances to increase a home's efficiency even more.

  • Third-Party Verification - Independent energy raters and help a development company increase their understanding and options for the efficiency of any given home.
